Why did you become a dentist?
I was inspired to become a dentist in elementary school. In the first grade, a dentist and his assistants visited my school - they talked about dental hygiene and oral health- and they gave us "goodie" bags with toothbrushes and toothpaste. When a friend of mine got her toothbrush, she was so excited which surprised me. She asked for another toothbrush for her brother. The dentist was so kind, gave her extra bags and spent time with her answering questions. After they left she told me she had never been to the dentist. That interaction taught me a few lessons. It was the first time I understood that there were people who did not have easy access to healthcare. It also showed me how powerful an interaction between a child and doctor can be. From that day, I knew what I wanted to do - I wanted to be a dentist for people who did not have easy access to one.

Why did you become a dentist?
I am super close to my family, as a child I once observed my mom being up all night due to severe dental pain. The next day my dad brought her to the dentist. When she came back she was pain free and smiling. There and then I decided to become the "miracle worker", who could alleviate pain and bring back a smile to people's faces.

When at dental school I received the Gus D Gatseos and George G Gatseos Senior Humanitarian Award for outstanding care, integrity, veracity, and service. When not working, I spend time with my husband and daughter.

Why did you become a dentist?
My grandmother-in-law was the first female dentist to graduate from University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Before becoming a dentist, I worked as a Child Life Specialist at Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. While working at Children's Hospital, I discovered my passion for helping children overcome challenging situations and helping them manage their pain. My grandmother-in-law inspired me to use my talents in this area to pursue a career in dentistry.

I enjoy rock climbing and skiing. We enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible. I am a Colorado native. I grew up in Commerce City and attended Adams City High School. Both of my parents and all of my aunts and uncles also went to Adams City High school.

Why did you become a dentist?
I knew at a young age that I wanted to work in a capacity of helping people. Through school I gravitated towards math and science. I became very involved as a competitive swimmer, and was later recruited to swim in college. My passion for swimming had me thinking about Sports Medicine or Exercise Science. Then to incorporate my desire to work predominately with kids I thought about Pediatric Physical Therapy. The summer after I graduated high school I did an externship that allowed me to work alongside a Pediatric Physical Therapist. Excellent timing for the opportunity to demonstrate to me that therapy in any application was probably not the best fit for me, as I'm drawn to things with quantifiable and rapid results. It was the fall semester of my freshman year of undergraduate school that I landed on the idea of dentistry. Working with kids doing what I call "functional art" has been a very fulfilling fit for me!
Interesting Facts

I grew up in upstate New York. I moved to Colorado in 2007. Outside of the office, I love enjoying all that beautiful Colorado has to offer. Hiking and exploring small mountain towns are some of my favorite things. I have one daughter who is now 12. My daughter and I enjoy going to cheer on our local teams, especially the Avs, the Nuggets, and the Rockies.

Why did you become a optometrist?
My mom's vision challenges were a big reason I chose optometry. I have early memories of going to her eye appointments or waiting with my dad as she underwent another surgery. The positive impact that optometrist had on my mom's quality of life influenced my decision to become an optometrist. My first job working as an assistant at an animal hospital also grew my interest in medicine and helping others with this knowledge. The fulfillment we felt as a team at the animal hospital was something I knew I wanted in my chosen career. And I'm thankful that I found that same sense of fulfillment as an optometrist.
Interesting Facts

My parents moved to Boulder in the 1970's. I grew up in the "Republic of Boulder" before moving to Fort Collins for college and later Oregon for graduate school. My husband, also a Boulder native, started a camper van company so when I'm not practicing optometry I'm helping him build client's custom campers. We spend most of our free time rock climbing with our "adventure" cat, she loves to go camping in our van, walking on a leash, and doing tricks for treats.

Why did you become a optometrist?
I grew up wearing glasses and contacts and always looked forward to getting my eye exams. Since middle school, I knew that I wanted to go into medicine in some capacity. Optometry, as unique as it is, ended up being a perfect fit for me. My optometrist was generous enough to let me shadow her for several weeks and teach me about the profession. I became an optometrist first to help people and I continue because of how much I enjoy seeing my patients succeed!
Interesting Facts

I am married to another optometrist and we have two wonderful cats! We love hiking, bird watching, camping, and kayaking!

Why did you become a orthodontist?
I love working with children and seeing the change that occurs as we create a healthy, beautiful smile that instills not only self confidence, but excellent function in helping to protect their smile for a lifetime. I also enjoy getting to know families throughout their orthodontic treatment, watching children achieve milestones and helping parents promote a healthy lifestyle.

I am an outdoor enthusiast who loves to be in social settings, meet new people, and just enjoying life! My wife, Lindsay, is my rock and my pup Piper gets all the pets. I reside in a small mountain town called Evergreen, CO.
